Children’s Trust Fund
Schools Assisting Family Education
(S.A.F.E.)

 
Through a grant from The Ohio Children’s Trust Fund,
The Educational Service Center is able to offer
the following programs:
 
Positive Directions Resource Center
Brochures, booklets, workbooks, and videos on topics such as anger management, conflict
resolution, stress management, and parenting are distributed to area parents, students, and
teachers through school open houses, parent-teacher conferences, school library brochure
racks, and guidance counselors.
 
Middle School Transition Packets
These packets are mailed to all parents of incoming middle school students
in the county. The packet contains information to help parents and students
with the transition from elementary school to middle school. Brochures
such as “Moving Right Along-Ways Parents Can Help Children Succeed in
the Middle Grades” and “What Every Parent Should Know About...”, as
well as community resource information, are some examples of the
materials distributed before the start of each school year.
 
Kindergarten Parent Packs
These packets are distributed to parents of incoming kindergarten students
through each county school during the enrollment process. Information
about transitioning the child from home or daycare to school is provided
with materials such as “Off to a Good Start - Ways Parents Can Help
Children Get Ready to Begin School” and “Ready for School!” Activity
Poster. The packet is also full of information from community agencies,
such as the Health Department’s Immunization Clinic.
