PURPOSE:
Brooks-Yates Center is operated by the Pickaway County
Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities.
Brooks-Yates Center serves individuals with mental
retardation and developmental disabilities from Pickaway
County, ages birth through adulthood. Services range from
assisting individuals to locate supports and resources to the
provision of direct care and supervision. All supports,
regardless of the specific program area are determined by an
Individual Plan that is developed with the individual and
family. Services, supports, and resources are directed at
enabling the individual to make choices so that he or she can
live, work and play in their community.

PURPOSE:
“Circle of Caring ~ Faith in Action” program is volunteers
helping frail, elderly, and disabled people maintain their
independence, dignity, and quality of life in their own homes.
SERVICES:
We offer casual, occasional assistance, through volunteers,
for transportation, friendly visiting, friendly phoning, light
housekeeping, yard work, “handyman” chores, respite care,
ramp building, and other helps as skills of volunteers allow.
ELIGIBILITY: Frail, elderly and disabled people
FEE:
No fees except for gas reimbursement requested for out of
county transportation. A community service coordinated by
Berger Health System, Pickaway County United Way
and local churches, community organizations and friends
with technical support from the Robert Wood Johnson
Foundation.

PURPOSE: Employment Assistance for the Disabled and Challenged
SERVICES:
Work Adjustment, Job Coaching, Janitorial training,
vocational counseling, and community job placement for
challenged and disabled adults who are interested in entering
the work force.

Providing transportation to the general public in Pickaway
County. Routes to villages and communities daily as well as
shopping. Some restrictions apply.
Demand Response:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. 24
hour advance scheduling required. $1.00 per one-way trip,
Elderly and Disabled 1/2 fare.
Point Deviation:
Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 8:00 pm. Providing transportation to ten points
around
Circleville on an hourly basis. $.50 or $.25 for Elderly and Disabled.
City Cab:
Providing immediate transportation needs at a slightly higher cost.
Columbus Shuttle:
Providing transportation to Columbus for medical appointments. 48 hour notice
required.
Shuttle will leave Circleville around 9:00 a.m. and will return to Circleville
around 4:00 p.m.

PURPOSE:
To provide a wide range of social and health services to
Pickaway County Senior Citizens.
RECREATION:
Senior Center
Provides a welcome spot for area residents 55
years or older. Here they meet old friends and make new
ones, learn new skills, enjoy recreational activities, expand
their outlook and avoid loneliness. Offers arts, crafts,
dances, trips, etc. The Pickaway County Senior Center is
funded locally by the Pickaway County Levy, United Way of
Pickaway County and local fund raising by the Senior Center
staff and volunteers. Federal and State Funds are administered through the
Central
Ohio Area Agency on Aging and provided by the Older
Americans Act. Responsibilities are handled by the
Department of Aging and the twelve Area Agency on Aging.
The Central Ohio Area Aging is operated by the Columbus
Recreation and Parks Dept.

SERVICES:
Home Delivered Meals
Lunches are delivered countywide to
recipients who are unable to prepare meals for themselves.
Regular, Diabetic, and Low Sodium meals are available.
(Menus are available). Well-balanced meals are offered.
Sometimes recipients need extra meals for evening or
weekends. This can be arranged if necessary. All recipients
are evaluated before they are started for home delivered
meals. Contributions are encouraged; however, no one is
denied a meal due to the inability to pay.
Congregate Meals
Monday through Friday, a nutritious lunch is prepared and served at the center
for senior citizens.
